The treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater is often characterized by demanding large areas and the construction of tanks. Besides, there are several problems associated with water treatment plants, such as as the variability in the peak-flow and pollutant loads to be treated, yield of debugging, formation of odors, phenomena of floating overflow, etc.

The efficiency of biological processes depends on the concentration of biomass in the reactor. Membrane Bioreactrs are a good technoloy for increasing the biomass concentration biological reactors. The new generation of membranes, (either ultrafiltration (UF) or microfiltration (MF)) are more productive and less costly.

Thus the BRM can be defined as the integration of two processes, biological degradation of organic matter and solid-liquid physical separation by the membrane in a single reactor. The membrane can be integrated into the reactor or externally installed.

The BRM system allows a reduction of space required by 70% compared to a conventional treatment while purification performance is improved. Thus, the problem associated with settling and flotation sludge are removed. You can even increase the capacity of existing plants without expanding civil works. The treated water will be according with reuse parameters requirements allowing a direct reuse for irrigation as disinfected effluent without virus or bacteria.

PROTECMED supplies Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology for both urban and industrial applications. We study in detail each case performing the detailed engineering of the installation, implementation diagrams of equipment, complete list of measurements, full installation and commissioning of the facility.

Also, we have a MBR pilot plants for those cases that a preliminary study is necessary.
